With this windy weekend behind us, I’m thinking of SUMMERTIME, which means the end of the school year with the fun field trips and field days. Do you know your children’s school calendar for their end of year fun? If not, get online or ask the teachers. Volunteering in your child’s classroom is a great way to get to know your child’s friends and plan summer playdates. Plus, find out more about their education. You may even get to meet their favorite librarian, Para, art teacher, or next year’s teacher. You can find out more about summer school programs that are available, and next fall’s back to school date. Make sure you and your co-parent are on the same page and enrolled for next year and are ready for any changes to campus or start and end times.
If you have a child entering Kindergarten, Middle School or High School, make sure you’ve looked at the best choice of school for your individual child. So many of our schools offer amazing options, and one school may be better than another, depending on your child’s aptitudes and preferences. Communicate with your coparent about the options to prevent an impasse related to enrollment options, but if an issue arises, Colorado Courts can assist parents.
And don’t forget to chart out your summer plans. If you and your co-parent are in separate homes, it is important you have your camps and daycare on a shared calendar, or you’ve provided one another all related information so you and your child know where and when to be somewhere. Many camps’ registration starts as early as January and February, but there is still time to find family friendly things to do this summer with local recreation centers, youth groups, and even neighborhood organizations. Plus, we live in Colorado: A STAY-cation is still a vacation, so get it calendared and share with your co-parent to set yourself and your child up for a great time – just get outside with your kids and be prepared for every season and anticipate every snack time need.
