Ciancio Ciancio Brown’s COO, Max Eckstein, is participating in the 2024 “RethinkAbility Vertical Feet Challenge” this April to fundraise for the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD).
The NSCD helps to create adaptive outdoor experiences for those who are living with disabilities. Max will be hitting the slopes on April 12, to raise funds to help the NSCD continue to provide accessible experiences for all who want to participate in the various outdoor activities Colorado has to offer.
All funds raised will help individuals of varying abilities participate in NSCD’s adaptive programs throughout the state.
Participants in the Vertical Feet Challenge will compete to log the most vertical feet in one day on the Winter Park Resort slopes. Challenge participants will receive a priority lift pass to better access the lifts while participating in the challenge.
What is the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD)?
The National Sports Center for the Disabled began 50 years ago in 1970, when Winter Park Ski School employee, Hal O’Leary volunteered to teach 23 children with amputations how to ski. Over the last 50 years, the NSCD has worked to revolutionize the adaptive ski industry to break down barriers for those living with disabilities.
Today, NSCD offers a variety of adaptive outdoor experiences for athletes living with disabilities. Their main focus is what they can achieve, rather than what limits they have to work with, and they are dedicated to seeing the “ability” in everyone they work with.
The National Sports Center for the Disabled is the leading provider of adaptive outdoor recreation programs and activities. The programs offered by NSCD are designed for participants to become aware of their power and ability through adaptive experiences.
Their goal is to help those living with disabilities, their caregivers, and the community as a whole to redefine how they think about their abilities. The adaptive programs they offer allow those living with disabilities to have experiences that may have otherwise been inaccessible to them.
Ultimately, they hope that these experiences help to build confidence and inspire participants to live fuller, healthier, lives and become more independent.
Donate To Help #RethinkAbility
Max Eckstein is hoping to inspire people to donate to NSCD’s cause. All donations will go towards ensuring that the adaptive programs offered are accessible to people of all abilities who wish to participate.
This year the RethinkAbility Vertical Feet Challenge 2024 has a goal of raising $80,000 for the program. At this time participants and donors have achieved just under 50 percent of that goal.
If the goals of the National Sports Center for the Disabled resonate with you, please consider making a donation here. Not only does your donation help Max Eckstein, but it also helps those of all ages experience outdoor activities through the NSCD’s programs and inspires them to challenge how they think about their abilities.
